Candidates announce for SEC elections

The filing deadline has come and gone and the field is set for the Socorro Electric Cooperative’s board of trustees elections on Oct. 3.

SEC member-owners will head to Finley Gym beginning at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, where a trio of trustee positions representing District 3 (Socorro) are up for grabs.

In Position 1, incumbent and board vice president Harold Baca will face off against challenger Dr. Donald Wolberg, who ran during last year’s elections.

The Position 2 race features incumbent Juan Gonzales and challenger Prescilla Mauldin. Mauldin is no stranger to Co-op elections, having run unsuccessfully for a District 3 seat in 2008.

The Position 3 race will see incumbent Herman Romero challenged by Luis Aguilar.

Registration for the election and voting begin promptly at 3 p.m., according to SEC’s Eileen Latassa. A business meeting follows at 7 p.m.

Victorious trustees serve four-year terms on the board.
