First baby of 2010

Bonnie Monte and Edward Padilla, of Alamo, are the proud parents of Socorro’s first baby of the new year. The baby girl was born Monday, Jan. 4, 7:45 a.m., at Socorro General Hospital. She weighed 4 pounds, 11 ounces.
Monte said she nearly didn’t make it to the hospital before the baby was born: “I almost had her at Water Canyon, along the road,” she said. “We had to pull over, but I was able to make it in time.” A name for the new arrival has not yet been chosen.
