Holliday awarded Navy medal
Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Nita Fay Holliday was recently awarded the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal for her professional achievement as legal officer for Commander, Strike Fighter Wing Atlantic in Virginia Beach, Va.
Holliday displayed superior initiative and resourcefulness in obtaining information regarding the emerging use of a controlled substance referred to as “spice.” She met with Navy Criminal Investigative Service and coordinated a brief for Strike Fighter commanding officers on this emerging potential disciplinary problem.
In addition, Holliday drafted a counseling or warning entry for the Strike Fighter Wing Atlantic community in order to inform and warn sailors of the consequences of the use of spice.
Holliday was awarded for her managerial ability, personal initiative and devotion to duty reflected credit upon herself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval service.
Holliday is the daughter of William B. Holliday of Quemado. She is a 1997 graduate of Quemado High School, and joined the Navy in June 1997.
She is a graduate of ITT Technical Institute, with a degree, and also a 2009 graduate of ITT Technical Institute, Norfolk, Va., with a bachelor’s degree.
