SHS grads can achieve anything
Dr. Robert L. Peralta, son of Lorraine Peralta of Socorro, and a Socorro High School graduate, has been approved for tenure and promotion by his department at the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio.
Peralta earned a bachelor of arts degree in Psychology at the Universtiy of New Mexico, in 1996. He went on to the University of Delaware, where he earned his master’s and doctorate degrees in Sociology, in 2002. From Delaware, Peralta was a post-doctoral student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and then taught at American University in Washinton, D.C., as a visiting professor. Peralta currently teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses in the department of sociology at the University of Akron. He has published his research on alcohol use, inter-personal violence, gender, and race-ethnicity in scientific journals including the Journal of Health and Social Behavior, Sex Roles, Gender Issues, The Journal of Ethnicity in Substance Abuse, Violence and Victims and The Journal of Drug Issues.
