Co-op to hold another special meeting
Socorro Electric Cooperative’s board of trustees will hold a second special meeting this month on Monday, July 18. A short agenda includes “ratify and confirm board action” to make good on all action taken by the board in the last 15 months.
A district court judge told co-op attorneys at a hearing in May that it had to remedy action it took since co-op members passed a bylaw in April 2010 requiring Socorro Electric to follow the New Mexico Open Meetings Act.
New Mexico Tech had to take similar steps last year when the Attorney General’s Office determined that its board of regents hadn’t given proper notice of meetings.
The agenda for Monday’s co-op meeting, set for 5:30 p.m. in the co-op’s board room, 310 Abeyta St. in Socorro, also includes an executive session.
The co-op’s board held another special meeting on July 5 to pass a resolution to establish a policy for interconnecting distributed resources in time to beat a deadline to be in compliance with the Code of Federal Regulations.
Both the resolution and the item to ratify previous action were on the agenda for the June meeting, but that meeting was canceled over concerns it wasn’t properly advertised.
The board’s regular July meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 27.
