Firewood permits available Monday
The Magdalena Ranger District will begin offering personal use firewood permits on Monday, Aug. 1.
Permits are available for dead, down and standing piñon and juniper, ponderosa, aspen, Douglas and white fir. There are also permits for green piñon and juniper trees.
The trees must be 14 inches or less in diameter, measured at the base of the tree. The minimum sale is $20 for two cords of firewood; the maximum is eight cords.
Permits are good for 60 days. Be aware that certain areas are closed to cutting.
Permits are available at the Magdalena Ranger District office, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to noon, and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Permits are also available at the Cibola National Forest supervisor’s office at 2113 Osuna Road NE in Albuquerque Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
