Withdrawl from war for the best
The soldier who allegedly committed the tragic killing of Afghan civilians recently is another victim of a failed U.S. war policy that has devastated the lives of millions of people in Afghanistan and back here in the United States.
More than 10 years after the U.S. invaded Afghanistan, I see little evidence that the current U.S. military strategy is helping to bring peace or stabilizing that country.
I am heartened by reports that our country and our European allies are considering accelerating the withdrawal of military forces and focusing on the long term development both in inside Afghanistan and in the region.
Spay/neuter clinic a success
This past weekend, we held our second spay/neuter clinic. In the three days that the clinic ran, 120 dogs and cats were spayed or neutered. We are keeping count, so that makes 231 in six months. We truly believe that this is the only way that we can stop the high number of euthanasias at the Socorro Animal Shelter and the larger number of dogs and cats roaming our streets.
Our next clinic will be in early August. Contact us if you need help with a spay/neuter, or want to volunteer for the next one.
Thank you, to all the people that helped make this happen.
