Public Education Department seeks nominations for special education IDEA advisory panel

The New Mexico Public Education Department Special Education Bureau is seeking nominations for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act State Advisory Panel.

The PED maintains a State Advisory Panel, as required by the IDEA, for the purpose of providing advice and guidance with respect to special education and related services for children with disabilities in the state. The State Advisory Panel membership is renewed every year for three-year terms.

The PED is especially interested in seeking nominations from parents, advocates, and school personnel from the northwest and northeast regions of the state in order for the panel to be representative of the state population. The State Advisory Panel must be composed of individuals involved in, or concerned with, the education of children with disabilities and who can serve a three-year term from July 2012 to June 2015.

The required State Advisory Panel membership and nomination forms can be accessed at the Special Education Bureau website at www.ped.state.nm.us/SEB/index.html. The nomination forms and resumes must be mailed to:
