Mag council approves new street light
At the Magdalena City Council meeting on Monday night, local resident Toby Jaramillo presented the suggestion of a new sewer pipe installation on 10th Street. According to Village Clerk Rita Broaddus, there is no sewer in that area of the street because it’s in the far west. It’s a part of the Infrastructure Capital Improvement Plan (ICIP) within the next five years, she said. The sewer pipe would run below and above the earth’s surface.
“We can’t afford loan payments on our future capital plan for that area of town,” Mayor Sandy Julian said.
This new installment will cost around $250,000, and it is within the long range plan, Broaddus said.
Jaramillo also talked to council members about installing a street light on 10th Street. The street light was approved, and Magdalena will work with the Socorro Electric Cooperative to get the street light installed near Jaramillo’s property, Broaddus said.
