DAHLMEYER – Lothar Dahlmeyer, 59, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, in Socorro surrounded by his loving friends. He was born in Worms, Germany on April 3,1953, to Andreas and Constance (Steffens) Dahlmeyer. Lothar was a Socorro resident since February 1987. He was a dedicated system administrator for NRAO for over 25 years. He enjoyed scuba diving and he loved riding his motorcycle. Lothar held a pilot’s license and had served in the German aAir force in his younger years before moving to the states. Lothar was a very kind and giving person; he had many friends who adored him. Above all, Lothar enjoyed being with his companion, Robin, and he shared many laughs with his big brother, Andreas. He was preceded in death by his father, Andreas Dahlmeyer Sr. Lothar is survived by his devoted and loving companion, Robin Deutsch; his mother, Constance Dahlmeyer; his brother, Andreas Dahlmeyer Jr.; and many close friends. DOTSON – Harold Chester Dotson Sr., 87, died peacefully on Sept. 7, 2012. He was born on Christmas Day 1924 to Anna and Evey Dotson of Alma, Ark. He graduated from Ozark High School, and enlisted  in the Army during World War II. Upon completion of training, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the newly sanctioned US Air Force, where he piloted B-29s, B-47s and B-52s throughout the Cold War years. Colonel Dotson retired after 31 years of service and moved to Socorro in 1974. He was the founder and president of Raychester Jewelry Mfg. During those years he also served as chairman of the Board of Directors for Socorro General Hospital before and during the construction of the new facility on Hwy 60, and then went on to serve on the Board of Directors for the Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque. He also served four years as the chairman of the Socorro County Republican party. He retired from Raychesters in 2010 to enjoy his family, his friends and his love of gardening. He is preceded in death by his parents Anne and Evey Dotson, his brother Carl Dotson and his son Harold Dotson Jr. He is survived by Lillian Dotson, his wife of 66 years, his sister Peggy Mathia, his daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Ed Berger of Lemitar, his daughter-in-law, Nancy Dotson of Socorro, and his six grandchildren: Bradly Dotson and wife Eliana; Andrew Dotson and wife Kortnie; Frederick Berger and wife Kathy all from Socorro; Kathleen Dano and husband Mike of Arvado, Colo.; Brenda Hess-Pohl and husband  Johannes of Fremont, Calif.; Aaron Berger and wife Liz of Houston, Texas; his many nieces and nephews and nine great-grandchildren. As per his request, there was no memorial service. Burial was held on his favorite ranch with only his immediate family in attendance.

SHELTON – Donna M. Shelton, 73, passed away peacefully on  Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Socorro on Oct. 23, 1938 ,to William Britton and Dorothy Ellen (Wilmont) Morrow. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of 46 years, James Shelton. Donna is survived by her devoted children, Rusty and wife, Bealinda; Donna and husband Cecil; Ellen and husband, Mike; Danny and wife, Sadie; Jackie and husband, Rick; and Michelle; and her loving sister, Kathy and husband, Dale. Donna also enjoyed 20 loving grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren who affectionately knew her as “Grandma Great,” and many other loving family members and close friends. Donna was raised in Socorro but after their marriage in 1956, James and Donna moved to Datil, which is where they raised their children. They also resided in Farmington and in the Colorado area for a brief time. Although many parts of the country were beautiful, she would always call Socorro home. Donna was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Socorro. She loved music, Western or Gospel and she loved to share her favorites with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She belonged to Sewing Circle of Friends who provided hand made caps for the newborn babies at Socorro General Hospital. She was gifted at crocheting afghans and did so for every celebration, graduation, or marriage within the Shelton family. Donna loved and adored her family so very much and shared her faith in the Lord with all of her family. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Socorro, 203 Spring St., with Pastor Bob Farmer officiating. Interment will follow in the Socorro Cemetery. Pallbearers are her loving grandsons.
