BLM announces fuel wood sale
The Bureau of Land Management Taos Field Office is conducting a week long fuel wood sale for the public on Nov. 13, through Nov. 18, at the Gorham Boy Scout Ranch, southeast of Chimayo.
Hours for picking up the fuel wood are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Ponderosa pine, juniper and piñon trees, which have been cut into 3- to 6-foot lengths, will be available for sale at $12 per cord. Cash or checks payable to the BLM will be accepted. Only two cords of fuel wood per household will be allowed. Chainsaws will not be allowed on site.
Fuel wood permits may be purchased on site or in advance from the BLM Taos Field Office, located at 226 Cruz Alta Road, Taos, N.M. 87571. Permit purchasers will be assigned a specific day during the week to conduct fuel wood collection on the Scout Ranch. There are a limited number of collection permits available for each sale weekend and permits will be issued on a first come, first served basis. Permit refunds or transfers will not be issued by the BLM. Directions and further instructions will be given at the time of permit purchase.
