City approves weather related leave
At the city council meeting Monday night, City Clerk Pat Salome discussed with council members the resolution of the personnel manual amendment on inclement weather, and what employees can do if the situation occurs.
When inclement weather causes problems and forces city work places and businesses to shut down, Salome said employees can use emergency or vacation/personal leave hours to get paid for not coming in that day, or leave without pay if the employee has no hours. The resolution was approved for workers to use emergency or vacation/personal leave hours.
In the public forum, New Mexico State Police Capt. Adrian Armijo attended the meeting. Armijo, a Socorro native, was transferred to Socorro in November. Armijo said he is looking forward to serving the community, and said he will keep citizens safe.
"Anything the city needs, I will be here," Armijo said.
Mayor Ravi Bhasker said the ninth annual Luminarias on the Plaza Art Stroll was a huge success. The street crew made sure everything was properly set up and there were a lot of people.
