Up again for music awards
Socorro native and music producer Jeff Bhasker continues to amaze audiences with his musical talents. Throughout the years, he has produced the works of hip hop artists such as Jay-Z and Kanye West, and R&B singers Alicia Keys, Beyonce and the group FUN.
For the upcoming Grammys, Feb. 10, Bhasker is nominated for four awards: Record of the Year and Album of the year for “Some Nights” by FUN; Song of the Year for “We are Young,” on the album “Some Nights”; and Producer of the Year, Non-Classical.
“The important thing isn’t winning the Grammys, but the excitement for being recognized for the work that you do,” Bhasker said.
Bhasker already has two Grammys under his belt.
“All of the Lights,” a song co-written by Bhasker, West, Stacy Ferguson, Malik Jones and Warren Trotter and recorded on West’s album “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,” won Best Rap Song at the 54th Grammy Awards in 2012.
He picked up his first Best Rap Song in 2010 for “Run This Town,” co-written by Bhasker, West, Rihanna, Shawn Carter and Ernest Wilson.
“One important thing about music is it makes people feel good and it’s an outlet,” Bhasker said. “You can’t see or touch it, but you can hear it, and it makes people feel great.”
The son of Socorro Mayor Ravi Bhasker, Bhasker graduated from Socorro High School in 1993, attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston and worked in New York before moving to Los Angeles.
