THOELE – Maxine Louise Thoele, 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at home in Socorro, NM surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Reeds, Mo. on Aug. 22, 1923, to Roy M. and Frances L. (McCollum) Alumbaugh. She and her four siblings were raised in a very loving and religious home in the Midwest. She graduated from high school in 1941 and attended business college in her hometown of Carthage. She married Joe Thoele in 1959 and they moved to Socorro in 1963. Maxine was a secretary for the Socorro public schools for many years. She enjoyed playing bridge, working crosswords and loved to garden. She was a member of the Garden Club and the Pilot Club. She taught shorthand and typing at New Mexico Tech and she taught religious classes at San Miguel for many years. Maxine was a very loving and trusting person and very strong in her faith. She loved to read and got great joy from reading to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all that loved and knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Joseph Thoele; her brothers, Ariel, Estel and J.D. Alumbaugh; son-in-law, Frankie Naranjo; and grandson, Francisco Naranjo Jr. Maxine is survived by her loving daughter Penny Naranjo; her sister Pauline Laney; her grandchildren, Angelita Naranjo, Joseph Naranjo and wife, Consuelo; her great-grandchildren, Andrea, Ashley and Adriana Jo (A.J.) Naranjo; and Marissa and Anea Scates; and many nieces and nephews. A Visitation will take place on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro with the Holy Rosary to follow at 7 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at 9 a.m. also at San Miguel with Father Andrew Pavlak as Celebrant. Interment will take place in the San Miguel Catholic Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers will be Gary Salcedo, Frank Carrillo, Jerry Wheeler, Joseph Naranjo, James Trujillo and Joey Reinisch. GUTIERREZ – Jolene M. Gutierrez, 36, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013. She was born in Socorro on March 10, 1976, to Joe R. and Irene M. (Savedra) Turrietta. Jolene was a lifelong resident of Socorro. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She always put others needs before her own. She worked at Socorro Mental Health for a brief time and really enjoyed it, she loved helping children. Jolene enjoyed listening to country music and even loved to sing along. She loved to travel. Jolene was an avid hunter, and loved being with her family on the many hunting trips. Above all Jolene, loved and adored all of her family. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Florencio and Ascencion Turrietta; and her beloved brother, “JR” James Turrietta. Jolene is survived by her loving parents; her devoted husband of 22 years, Daniel Gutierrez; her loving children, Desiree Aishia, JoDaniel Florencio “Buddy,” and Devon Pablo; her brother, Adam Turrietta; and many other loving family members and close friends.
