School board elections over

School board elections, including several funding options, are over. Feb. 5 elections results in Socorro and Catron counties are official; canvassing has been completed.

In Socorro the mill levy question passed by 74 percent to 26 percent, receiving 1,146 votes in favor and 411 against. The general obligation school bond passed by 83 percent to 17 percent, receiving 1,321 votes in favor and 262 votes against.

In Socorro, 1,696 people voted.

Daniel James Chavez (866 votes) won over Linda Perdue (799 votes), 52 percent to 48 percent to take board Position 4. J.C. Trujillo (695 votes) lost to Pauline Jaramillo (987 votes), 41 percent to 59 percent in Position 5.

In Magdalena, where 584 total people voted, Nancy Jaramillo (312 votes) is the winner over Barbara Gordon (270 votes) in Position 1. In Position 2, Gail Armstrong (316 votes) took the seat over Marva Brunson (258 votes).

In Catron County there were no unopposed school board positions.

A total of 334 people voted in District 1. The mill levy passed 226 votes to 101 votes. Samuel Nicholds got 243 votes, A. Russell Laney got 227 votes, Sharon Armijo got 258 votes, Carl Livingston 210 votes and Roberts Ricks got 214 votes.

In Catron County District 2, a total of 79 votes were cast. Danny Carver received 74 votes, Elena Farr received 72 votes and Marilyn Bunney received 71 votes.
