The Socorro Civitan Club is still selling tickets for a drawing for a $300 brass eagle, among other prizes. Ticket sales are to benefit Mike Gorton, who has throat cancer and needs to cover expenses such as for transportation to doctor visits. The 2013 Women Veterans Conference is Sept. 7 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Albuquerque Crowne Plaza Hotel, 1901 University Ave. N. E.
