Labor Day bull rides held at fair grounds

Travis Sullivan held a mini-bull riding at the Socorro County Fairgrounds on Sept. 2, following the Socorro County Fair and Rodeo over the weekend. The mini-bull riding was the only bull riding event of the weekend to have any qualified rides.

Sheep riding contest: Jace Green of Magdalena took first place

Calf riding contest: Lucas Chavez of Moriarity took first with the only calf ride

Mini-bull riding contest: Joseph Chavez of Moriarity was the average winner, with two rides and a total score of 123.

Quinton Wimberly and Travis Wimberly, brothers, of Edgewood, took second and third place with scores of 70 and 68, respectively.

Junior bull riding contest: Justin Houston, of Albuquerque, was the average winner with a total score of 145.
