Bailey faces homicide charge for accident killing oneOn Wednesday, Sept. 4, at approximately 3:37 p.m. New Mexico State Police officers responded to the scene of a two vehicle crash on Interstate 25 near mile marker 167, south of Bernardo according to a New Mexico Department of Public Safety release.
The crash involved two vehicles. One was a green Toyota Camry and the second was a white Chevy truck. The truck fled the scene and was located approximately six miles north of the crash scene.
Based on the officer’s investigation, it appeared as both vehicles were traveling northbound on I-25 in the right hand lane. The white Chevy rear-ended the green Camry. The Camry was occupied with four people.
Due to the impact, a rear passenger was killed. She was identified as Birthe Rasmussen Moehring, 65, of Berlin, Germany. The other three passengers did not have serious injuries.
The driver of the white Chevy truck was identified as Keith Bailey, 37, of Lemitar.
State Police arrested Bailey and charged him with homicide by motor vehicle, third degree felony; Leaving the scene of an accident, fourth degree felony; and driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs, fifth offense. A warrant was obtained for a blood draw on Bailey, who showed signs of intoxication when officers made contact with him.
Bailey was booked into the Socorro County Detention Center on his charges.

In the past Bailey has served in Socorro County as an agent for the New Mexico Office of Medical Investigation as well as a volunteer fireman and EMT.
