Magdalena Lady Steers take championship

The Magdalena Lady Steers took the championship at their own volleyball tournament held Sept. 6 and 7. The Lady Steers won every match in the tournament, and showed prowess against their even their toughest opponent. Magdalena hosted the Alamo Navajo Cougars, Animas Panthers, Escalante Lobos, Menaul Panthers, Mountainair Mustangs, Quemado Eagles and Reserve Mountaineers for the tournament.

The Alamo Navajo Cougars took fifth, winning on the left of the bracket, after their initial loss to the Lady Steers on Sept. 6.

All-tournament winners were Breann Baca, Dani Gordon and Kadie Kiehne from Magdalena.

The Magdalena Lady Steers played the Hot Springs Tigers on Sept. 12 at 4 p.m. at home.

The Quemado Lady Eagles hosted the Lady Steers junior varsity team Sept. 14 at 2 p.m.

Alamo Navajo hosts the Pine Hill Warriors at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, and the Menaul Panthers at 4 p.m. on Friday.
Reserve traveled to the Evangelical Christian School’s tournament last weekend.
