Socorro Warriors shut out against Ruidoso
The Socorro Warriors marched down the field with the football numerous times but never reached the goal line Sept. 6 against the Ruidoso Warriors. Their running game was good, but not good enough.
Socorro started slow with a defensive first quarter. Tyler Crespin and Zeb Esquivel led a march toward the goal line in the second quarter, but didn’t make the goal. Play improved just before halftime and there was hope for a turnaround, but it didn’t materialize. Mike Armijo rallied in the second half and helped move the team downfield. Blocking seemed to be the greatest deficit in their offensive game, and defense was slow throughout the night.
The Warriors’ next game was in Cobre on Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.
