Alamo hosts new football team, Tse Yai Gai Warriors
It was the Tse Yai Gai Warriors first game — ever.
The small, independent school played the Alamo Navajo Cougars on Saturday night in a late scrimmage, after the visiting team arrived two hours late and the referees had already gone home for the night. The Cougar team and fans showed great sportsmanship, even as the night air became brisk. When the Warriors arrived at just around 9 p.m., volunteer referees, including Cougars coach, Kent Tomah, facilitated a 45-minute scrimmage between the two teams.
Alamo Navajo won the scrimmage,
Both teams are young and small. Two of Alamo Navajo’s players were injured during the game. Their injuries did not appear to be serious.
