Rain uncovers remains
Recent heavy rains washed out an arroyo and uncovered human skeletal remains on the Alamo Navajo reservation.
Socorro County Sheriff’s Department Undersheriff Les Torres said a woman reported the remains to Crownpoint police in the first part of September. However, when those authorities didn’t show up for two days, she notified SCSD.
Deputy James Nance said the remains were found near Martin Road, between Three Tanks and Martin Ranch.
Torres said the remains are believed to be ancient, not recent. The remains were turned over to criminal investigators with the Navajo Nation Police Department in Crownpoint.
