Lady Warriors secure home advantage
The Lady Warriors nailed the win on Tuesday night, playing with a new passion against the Hot Springs Tigers in their last regular season home performance of the year. The Lady Warriors secured home advantage for their first district game next Thursday, also against the Tigers, with a 3-0 win, in three tightly played sets. Seniors Tamera Chavez, Jaedyn Gutierrez, Maria Alderete, Ashley Pyke and Natalie Paz had extra reason to play from the heart.
"Our seniors took the lead tonight, and made me proud," coach Joni Mauldin said. "Every girl did her job tonight."
The ladies traveled to Silver City on Wednesday afternoon for their final regular season game. The game was originally scheduled for Nov. 2, but was moved up to Wednesday due to travel schedules. District 3 is a three-team district. Silver City outranks its two opponents with a 16-4 record, 3-0 in district.
That secures a bye for them this weekend, and home advantage for the district championship game. Socorro sits second in district, with a 7-11 record, 2-1 in district. The Lady Warriors will face the Hot Springs Tigers again next Tuesday at 6 p.m. at home.
