Stolen vehicles found in Veguita
The Socorro County Sheriff’s Department found stolen vehicles near Veguita, but the thieves have not yet been found.
SCSD Deputy William Armijo said a Veguita area resident reported seeing a suspicious motor home parked in an arroyo just north of his property. When deputies responded to the scene, they found a motor home and a car.
“Both vehicles had been stripped,” Armijo said.
Armijo said the vehicles were on a vacant lot off Pedro Road in Veguita. A VIN number check through the National Crime Information Center database showed both vehicles had been stolen. The motor home had been stolen from Valencia County.
Deputy Amanda Vega said the car had been stolen from Albuquerque, but was registered to an address in Bloomfield. She said the motor home was a 1997 Holiday Rambler, and the car a 1987 Chevrolet two-door coupe.
Armijo said SCSD contacted the owner of the mobile home to let him know his vehicle was found, but there was no contact information for the owner of the car besides the address on the car’s registration. SCSD sent a letter to the address.
Armijo said there are no suspects at this time and the investigation is ongoing. The last known owners of the property where the vehicles were found are not necessarily suspects.
