Giving Tree tags ready for pick-up
San Miguel Parish sponsors The Giving Tree for the needy in Socorro again this year.
Gift tags can be picked up from The Giving Tree at Masses on Saturdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. at the San Miguel Parish Hall, where all Masses are held while the church is being renovated. Tags can also be picked up at the church office Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Do not leave gifts on the church porch.
The wrapped gift with the tag taped on top must be returned to the church office by Dec. 16. This gives agencies time to distribute the gifts before Christmas.
Agencies participating are the Children, Youth and Families Department, Puerto Seguro, Birthright, El Puente, La Vida Felicidad, Maternal Child Healthcare, Good Samaritan Nursing Home and the Socorro County Literacy Program.
Most of the gifts are for specific people, so those who pick up a tag are asked to make sure to return a gift so no one will be left out.
There are many items that children can give as well.
