Socorro Bass Club ends season with Fruit Jar Tourney
The Socorro County Bass Club finished its season with a Fruit Jar Tournament at Elephant Butte on Oct. 27.
Even in cooler fall temperatures, the weather was reportedly good. Check-in was at 7 a.m. and weigh-in at 2 p.m. Lunch was served at the Elephant Butte Inn at 3 p.m. and awards were presented.
The entry fee was $20. Awards were given as follows:

Season awards — Mr. Bass: Bobby Beal; Club Champion: Richard Vigil, runner-up: Walter Robinson; Angler of Year: Randy Campbell, and runner-up Ron Gilworth.
Big fish paid $5; earnings were cash back on first, second and third places; $100 draw for gas at Roadrunner Truck Stop in Lemitar. Awards to Angler of Year, Runner-up Angler of Year, Club Champion, runner-up for Club Champion and Mr. BassMaster.
Fishing has been tough, but at least anglers got to eat. It may be the time for the Fall Catch. Outgoing tournament coordinator Ron Gilworth reported great weather and the lake is getting clearer; good fishing but catching slow. Two new members from Fort Bliss joined the tournament, making that number for the year at three anglers from Fort Bliss.
Gilworth also thanked everyone who assisted with tournaments this year.
