The fifth annual Socorro County Holiday Toy Drive for Christmas happens in front of Walmart every Saturday in December until the 21st. Toys or cash donations can also be dropped off anytime through Dec. 22 at the DWI office, 106 Center St.; the Socorro County Sheriff’s Department; or the Socorro Adult Probation and Parole Office. Toys from Cops to Tots is now till Dec. 20. Drop off new toys at the city police dept., 701 N Sixth St; at collection boxes at local businesses; or with any city police officer.  Monetary donations are also welcome. Call the Socorro Police Department at 835-1883 and an officer will pick up the donation. Families needing toys should register at the city police dept. by Dec. 20.

Art show at New Mexico Tech’s Macey Center Exhibition Center features local artists, through Dec. 16. Free.

Christmas Tree cutting permits are on sale for the Mount Taylor and the Magdalena Ranger Districts. Trees may be cut through Dec. 24. Cost is $10 per tree (up to 10 feet). For trees taller than 10 feet, the cost is $1 per foot. The tags are also good to dig up a living tree.
