Socorro Warriors meet success at Tiger Jaguar Invitational
The Warriors did well in relays and individual races, placing second in the boys 200-meter free relay and third in the 200-meter medley relay during the Tiger Jaguar Invitational on Nov. 23.
Tyler Crespin placed third in the 50 freestyle, and Matthew Lucero and Kash Winningham took third and fifth, respectively, in the 100-meter breaststroke. The boys placed fourth overall in the meet.
Ten schools participated in the boys meet, including Cottonwood Classic, Farmington High School, Hope Christian Academy, Los Lunas High School, Piedra Vista High School, Santa Fe Prep School, Santa Fe High School, St. Pius X School and Valencia High School.
Leanne Jojola and Teresa Lucero placed fifth and sixth respectively in the 200-meter freestyle in the girls race, and the girls placed fifth overall in the Tiger Jaguar Invitational meet.
Nine schools participated in the girls race, including Academy for Technology and the Classics, Cottonwood Classic, Farmington High School, Hope Christian Academy, Los Lunas High School, Piedra Vista High School, St. Pius X School and Valencia High School.
“There were a lot of really good swims last weekend,” Warriors assistant coach Corey Smith said. “I had a hard time pulling just a few.”
The Warriors swim team competes again Dec. 7 in Alamogordo at the Family Recreation Center, 1100 Oregon Ave., at 9 a.m.
