New outreach specialist at PMS
Presbyterian Medical Services – Socorro Community Health Center has added Lacey Wilmoth, an outreach and enrollment specialist who will assist the local community with understanding and accessing the various health care insurance options.
According to a press release from PMS the Affordable Care Act has created many changes in the health care environment. One of the significant changes is access to health care coverage for many Americans who have previously not had coverage. Health centers around the country are working on educating consumers about their new options. The U.S. Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) made funding available to health centers in order to enhance existing outreach and enrollment activities.
With this funding PMS has been able to hire Lacey Wilmoth along with other regional outreach and enrollment specialists to supplement our current resources.
The specialists will work with health center staff and community groups to educate and enroll consumers in these new benefit plans. In addition to these new staff members, existing PMS staff members are completing training to become certified healthcare guides/in-person assistors, in order to assist consumers with the enrollment process for the New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange.
Many are also finishing the new Centennial Care training to be able to enroll consumers in expanded Medicaid categories. These programs will be very beneficial for our patients and for consumers in our communities.
To contact Lacey Wilmoth, call the PMS – Socorro Community Health Center at 575-835-4444 or visit the center at 1300 Enterprise Rd, Socorro, NM 87801.
