Socorro municipal election absentee ballot applications must be filled out and received at the city clerk’s office, 111 School of Mines Road, by 5 p.m. Feb. 28.  Absentee ballots may be mailed in or delivered in person. All absentee ballots must be received by the city clerk’s office by 7 p.m. March 4.

From the Heart, a special exhibit at the Vertu Fine Art gallery, will display pieces that familiar area artists have created which have special meaning or significance personally important to themselves. The exhibit opens Feb. 7 with a reception from 6  p.m. to 8 p.m. at Vertu, 113 Abeyta in Socorro. Call 575-835-4487 for more information.

El Camino Real International Heritage Center, Exit 115 off Interstate 25, has free admission for New Mexico seniors 60 and older on Wednesdays. Sundays all New Mexico residents are admitted free. For more information, call 854-3600 or visit www.elcaminoreal.org.

Tienda de Segunda Thrifty, 400 Spring St., accepts donations of furniture, clothing, kitchen appliances and more. Thrifty cannot accept broken or dirty furniture, and has no facilities to wash clothing so donations need to be clean. All workers are volunteers, and sales revenues are donated to senior programs in Socorro County. The store is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

ICAN Cooking is from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays at 198 Neel Ave. and 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursdays at 1014 N. California at ISD Office. For more information, call 835-0610.
