Warriors overcome one-shot deficit
The Socorro High School boy’s golf team overcame a one-shot deficit from the first day of competition and dusted the field by 18 shots in the Seery Invitational Golf Tournament, hosted by the New Mexico Tech Golf Course.
The Warriors were led by sophomore Ricky Silva who shot rounds of 79-76 in blustery, cold conditions.
Silva was the low individual for the tournament and he gained two legs in his quest to qualify individually for the state high school golf tournament.
Sophomore Sean Moore placed second behind Silva, with scores of 79-81; he also gained an individual leg with his first-day score of 79. Sophomore Isaiah Anaya placed sixth individually in the tournament with scores of 90-81.
Rounding out the scores for the team were senior Will Benson and sophomore Levi Romero with a two-day totals of 175 and 176, respectively.
The Warriors next tournament will be on March 28 at the Links Golf Course in Ruidoso at the Great Eight golf tournament.
