SAENZ-GARCIA — Samuel T. Saenz-Garcia, 25, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014. He was born in Socorro, N.M. on September 8, 1988 to Jesus Hernandez and Mary Geneva (Garcia) Saenz. Sammy was a lifelong resident of Socorro. He had a special gift of music, he was very talented at producing many songs. Sammy was an awesome cage fighter and went undefeated in his career. He enjoyed boxing, hunting and fishing, especially with his brother, Ronnie. Sammy was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. Amongst everything,  he will mostly be remembered for his loving and caring ways, a devoted son, brother, uncle, husband, father and friend. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Garcia; his grandparents, Sam and Elisa Garcia; his tio “Nando” Garcia, and his dear friend and cousin, Floyd Savedra Jr. Sammy is survived by his loving wife, Daniela “Turkey” (Fernandez) Garcia; his mother, “Jenny” Saenz; his uncle and auntie, who were more like his second parents, Larry and Barbara Garcia; his sisters, Valerie; Vanessa; Patricia; and Annette; his brothers, Gilbert “Tinker”; Ronnie; and Jonathan; and many nieces, nephews and  other loving family members. Sammy will also be remembered in his children, Javahn; Nevaeh; Camila; and Isabel. A Memorial Service was held on Monday, March 31, 2014, at 2 p.m .at the Potter’s House – 1203 Frontage Rd. ARAGON — Lorraine H. Aragon, age 77, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at her home in Socorro, N.M. She was born in Hillsboro, N.M. on April 15, 1936, to Vicente and Clorinda Duran Hidalgo. Lorraine grew up in Southwestern New Mexico and came to Socorro in 1979. She enjoyed dancing and loved to quilt. Lorraine made many pieces for both her family and her friends alike. She was preceded in death by her father, Vicente P. Hidalgo; husband, Bennie Aragon; daughter, Connie H. Lopez; and sister, Norma Jean Hidalgo. Lorraine is survived by daughters, Helen Lopez and companion, L. J. Nelson and Patricia Padilla, both of Socorro, N.M.; mother, Clorinda Hidalgo of Tucson, Ariz.; sons, Frank Lopez of Tucson and Vincent Lopez and wife, Judy of Cortez, Colo.; step daughter, Rosie Aragon of Socorro; brothers, Richard Hidalgo and wife, Dorothy of Tucson and James Hidalgo and wife, Beverly of Henderson, Nev.; her companion, Frank Trujillo from Los Lunas, N.M.; eight grandchildren; one step granddaughter and her husband; nine great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; four sister-in-laws, Jean Matthews and husband, Jack, Vivian Armijo and husband, Chamba, Eufemia Montoya and husband, Larry, and Lucy Cano; and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2014, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services – Socorro Chapel. The Holy Rosary will be recited on Friday, April 4, 2014, at 8:30 a.m. at the San Miguel Catholic Church, 403 El Camino Real, Socorro, with the Mass of Resurrection to be celebrated immediately following at 9 a.m. Father Andrew Pavlak as Celebrant. Burial will take place at the Hillsboro, N.M. cemetery on Friday, April 4, 2014, at 3 p.m. Pallbearers are Frank Lopez, Vincent Lopez Sr., Vincent Lopez Jr., Nicholas Lopez, Jose Ochoa, Guillermo Ochoa and Raymond Rosales. DERICO — Irene R. Derico, 65, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014. She was born in Delicias Chihuahua, Mexico on May 10, 1948 to Jose and Ramona (Nieto) Reyes. She has been a resident of Socorro for about 42 years. Irene enjoyed cooking and the outdoors. She loved her birds. She was a very outgoing person. More than anything else, Irene simply enjoyed get together’s with her family. She was always happy and loved to sing. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, David Rico in 1980. Irene  is survived by her companion of 16 years, Michael Baca; her children, David and wife, Marcy; Victoria and companion, Noah; Monique and husband, Hector; and Marcos; her sisters, Rosa; her twin, Eva; and Luz Maria; and many other loving family members and close friends. Irene will be especially missed by her loving grandchildren, Stephen; Roxanne; Symphony; Destiney; David II; Valera; Pablo; Emiliano; Bravlio; and Mateo.
