Class of 2014 officially graduates Saturday
More than 350 students are eligible to walk in commencement exercises Saturday, May 10, on campus in Socorro.
Ceremonies will begin at 9 a.m. in between Brown Hall and Skeen Library. The reception will be on the lawn on the south side of Brown Hall immediately following the ceremony. For those not able to attend, the ceremony will be live streaming online at http://bit.ly/1mj6XtV.
Seating is limited, so people are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or camp chairs. The event area includes ample room for those who bring chairs.
Graduates are invited to sit for official portraits – individually, within family or with friends from 10:30 a.m. (immediately after the ceremony) to 1 p.m. at the northwest corner the gymnasium. Courtesy of the Alumni Office, prints are free for graduates.
Although the list of graduates will not be approved until the day before the ceremony, the Registrar’s Office expects the Class of 2014 to be about 363 individuals, which includes the monthly graduation lists that have already been approved from June 2013 to April 2014.
Tech has already awarded 108 degrees since last June, with about 255 more degrees to be conferred in May. Registrar Sara Grijalva said she expects around 230 students to participate in the ceremony, including six students who earned Ph.D.’s.
The Alumni Relations Office will host a special reception from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 9, on the second floor of the Fidel Center for all members of the Class of 2014 and their families. Alumni are also welcome to attend.
The Alumni Office is also hosting a Golden Reunion celebration for the Class of 1964 at 7 p.m. Friday, May 9, at Macey Center.
