The freshman Alamo Navajo Community School (ANCS) Expeditionary Learning class is organizing the second annual Route 66 Car Show which is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 31.

The car show will take place on the east side of the school parking lot. It will not only include cars, but motorcycles and trucks as well.

There will be prizes for the best exhibited cars. Last year’s event included 30 cars. This year the Expeditionary Learning class set a goal to have 50 or more cars, motorcycles and trucks.

Expeditionary learning means taking what the ANCS freshman students learned in class about New Mexican trades routes, such as Route 66, and applying that knowledge to the organization of the car show.

The Expeditionary Learning class contacted other car clubs, car and motorcycle owners throughout New Mexico by mailing invitations to come and bring their cars to the show. The class will also exhibit its sculptured Route 66 cars and trucks.

There is no entry fee to the car show, which include a barbecue. The Expeditionary Learning class hopes many people can make it out to the car show.
