Berger brings home state title
Socorro’s Shania Berger captured the A-3A girls golf state championship, which took place Monday and Tuesday at New Mexico State Golf Course.
Berger shot a 72 and 73, finishing two strokes ahead of Bosque’s Sarah Greene.
As a team the Socorro Lady Warriors tied for first place with Bosque but lost a one-hole playoff and took home second-place honors.
Berger’s teammate Mia Salome posted scores of 79 and 81 to tie for fourth place in the 31-player field.
On the boys’ side, Isaiah Anaya finished in threeway tie for second place with scores of 78 and 77.
Meanwhile, teammate Sean Moor shot a 79 and 80 to tie for sixth place.
The Socorro boys placed second behind Hope Christian.
