Fourth of July celebration outside of New Mexico Tech’s Macey Center, 11 a.m. July 4. Live music from Socorro Community Band, Clan Tynker, Stasia and Mariam, Suavecito, El Gringo, Al Hurricane and Al Hurricane Jr. and The Remedy. The free event will also include a barbeue, water slide and jump balloon for the kids and Tech’s famous fireworks display.
Hop Canyon firefighters invite the public to their annual Fourth of July potluck at the Hop Canyon Fire Station from noon until twilight. Z.W. Farnsworth will be grilling hot dogs and hamburgers and guests are encouraged to bring a dish to share.
The Magdalena Public Library is hosting New Mexico State Library’s Makerspace Tour with a Pneumatic Tubes Workshop at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8. The Village Press will be providing messages to send through the tubes. Kids attending the workshop can earn points toward Summer Reading Program prizes.
