Mag continues trustee search
The Magdalena Village Board has been short one trustee since Mayor Diego Montoya announced the resignation of Barbara Baca five weeks ago.
Baca was re-elected for a second four-year term in 2012.
Montoya reported, at Monday's meeting, that the search for a qualified nominee is still on. He said he has talked to several residents but has received no firm commitments.
"If anyone knows of anybody (interested), pass it along," Montoya said. "They will need to drop off a letter of intent at Village Hall."
In the meantime, the three remaining board trustees, Tom Barrington, Dolly Dawson and Richard Rumpf will decide village business.
In other action:
• The board approved the first reading of an ordinance which requires the possession of a tax certificate prior to the movement of a mobile home within Socorro County, providing for penalty and enforcement. The municipal ordinance will be in agreement to one passed by the Socorro County Commission in August 2010.
• The board approved the first reading of an ordinance which prohibits texting while driving. The ordinance complies with the state's Uniform Traffic Code.
