Bountiful Baskets comes to Socorro
The fresh fruit and vegetable service that has become so successful in Magdalena is now scheduling deliveries in Socorro.
Bountiful Baskets, a nonprofit food co-op, was so well received that people from Socorro were traveling to Magdalena to get on the pick up list.
Bountiful Baskets is an all volunteer co-op and those who sign up take part by volunteering at delivery time.
Each order contains both seasonal fruit and vegetables worth up to $50. The cost of a conventional basket is $15. An upgrade to all organic is an extra $10. There is also a handling fee of $1.50.
Add-ons include a Mexican-themed pack, a tortilla pack, sourdough bread, granola, assorted bread pack, juicing pack and blackberries.
Participants must supply a bag, box, or other container to take their produce home.
Deliveries are every other Friday for both Magdalena and Socorro.
In Magdalena pickup is 6 to 6:20 p.m. at the Fine Arts Building. Volunteer time is 5 p.m.
In Socorro pickup is 7 to 7:20 p.m. at Zimmerly Elementary gym. Volunteer time is 6 p.m.
There needs to be a minimum of 50 participants a week at each location to continue.
