Soldier/chaplain serves as role model

Chaplain assistant Technical Sgt. Sheldon Milligan, 28, of the Air Force reaches out to those who need it the most. As a chaplain assistant, he provides spiritual care and helps patients in the hospital because warrior care is one of their top priorities, he said. As patients come in, depending on their injuries, he meets, spends time with them and makes sure they are cared for.

Artist shows her true colors

Watercolor artist Georgette Evans Grey works to make her artwork stand out beyond the surface of the medium. Her watercolor techniques are carefully stroked across the page to bring each picture to life.

Contracts renewed

Socorro Consolidated Schools board members renewed Randall Earwood's contract as superintendent at the Dec. 17, 2012, board meeting. The original one-year contract has been extended through June 2015.

School board looks at recording meetings

At the Socorro Consolidated Schools board meeting Monday night, in new business, board members discussed the topic of recording school board meetings for keeping track of minutes. The idea is to record the school board meetings for minutes and dialogue, and once the official minutes are approved, the recording will be destroyed.

Good Samaritan streamlines

The Good Samaritan Society care facility has updated its filing system by switching to the electronic medical record system. The agency no longer needs to use bulky files to store its information.
