Black Friday sales started early

Black Friday gets earlier each year; people are getting up early, lining up and waiting in the cold in front of stores to get their discounted purchases. Some of the sales no longer start on Friday, but as early as Thursday night.

Winter wonderland emerges during ninth annual art stroll

Lights, music, art and luminarias are all a big part of the Ninth Annual Luminarias on the Plaza Art Stroll, which takes place Dec. 1 at the Old Town Plaza from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Established in 2004, the Socorro County Arts formed this as their first event, said Art Stroll coordinator Joy Miler.

Author's 'wall of smoke' has a taste for murder

Author Jim Wolf, 79, wrote the novel "Wall of Smoke," which is about Miguel Alonzo, a non-Navajo on the Navajo Nation police force who is coordinating an investigation of two deaths that occur at Twin Rivers Navajo Reservation.
