Martin “Sonny” Garcia, 76, passed away on July 17, 2019, from a sudden heart attack. Martin was born on January 13, 1943 in Lincoln, New Mexico, where he lived most of his life before entering the Army and serving his country. He was a Vietnam War veteran where he was awarded several awards for his selfless service to his country.
In addition to his military service, Martin was a police officer, a truck driver and most importantly, a loving husband and devoted father to his six children. Martin also had a love of music and would play with his friends as often as he could. He also enjoyed writing songs expressing his joy of life and all those around him. In his well-earned retirement, he would paint, make jewelry, read and enjoy his life and family.
Martin is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Margo; his six children: Leland, Sherri, Lanette, John, Dean and Danny; a sister Joy, and countless grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends from around the world.
Graveside services will be conducted at a date to be announced in Ft. Stanton, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Garcia and Evelyn McBride, and s brother and a sister. Martin's care has been entrusted to: Daniels Family Funeral Service, Socorro Chapel.
