Dana Sills and Patricia Mena, both New Mexico Tech students, have announced their plans for an upcoming wedding. Patricia is the daughter of Jennifer and Peter Whiteis, and Carlos Mena, all of Green Bank W.V. Dana is the son of Patsy and Ron Sills, of Tucson, Ariz. Dana will begin his final year at New Mexico Tech with the fall semester. The pair plans to exchange vows in a ceremony set for Saturday, July 31, in the Magdalena Mountains. The couple will continue to reside in Socorro.

LEWELLEN – Catherine B. Lewellen, 88, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2010 in Socorro, NM. Catherine was born on December 2, 1921 to Henry B. and Frances E. (Mayberry) Birmingham in Horsesprings, NM. She is survived by her loving Daughters, Linda Trujillo and husband, Rex of Magdalena, NM; Sharon Harris also of Magdalena; and Frances Wright and husband, Steven of Ashland City, TN; nine grandchildren, Neal Harris; Evan Harris; Marin Harris; Abran Peralta; Jeff Peralta; Jerrell Peralta; Aaron Peralta; Daniel Contreras; and Kayenne Contreras; two step grandchildren, Kaylee Smith; and Malissa Trujillo; eight great grandchildren, Emma Peralta; Hannah Peralta; Kaylee Peralta; Braelyn Peralta; Jaylum Contreras; Illa Marie Taylor; Xandra Contreras; and Sara Marquess; one brother; Henry Birmingham II of Reserve, NM; one sister, Dora Mae Trotter of Pheonix, AZ; and many nieces and nephews. Catherine was a resident of Magdalena since 1958 and a member of the Presbyterian Church. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Hulen J. Lewellen; and Tranquilino Lopez; brothers, Pat Birmingham; and Edward Birmingham; and sisters, Mary Ellen Potter; and Sue Snyder. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 3, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Magdalena Community Church in Magdalena, NM. TORRES – Anastacio “Tacio” T. Torres 88, passed away, August 26, 2010 in Chicago, Illinois. He was born May 4, 1922 to A. C. and Margarita Torres in Socorro, NM.  As a young man Anastacio joined the military and served his country in the United States Army during World War II.  Anastacio attended art school in Chicago, and started work with the Society for Visual Education (SVE).  He made his career as a graphic artist prior to retiring as a lead person in the graphic art department in the early 1980’s.  Anastacio is preceded in death by his brother, Jesus Torres; and his sisters, Julia Armijo; Miquela Sisneros; Anne Turpin; and Isabel Torres. He is survived by his sister, Louise T. Callihan of Albuquerque, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.  A Rosary will be recited on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at San Miguel Catholic Church Parish Hall at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately following the rosary at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the San Miguel Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Amanda Callihan, Rita Ramirez, Eppie Martinez, Isaiah Gallegos, Craig Gallegos, and Gabe Gallegos.  Those who wish to send condolences may do so at www.danielsfuneral.com. MARTINEZ – Justo “Justy” Martinez, 58, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2010 at his home in Socorro, NM, surrounded by his family.  Justy was born on June 20, 1952 in Socorro NM to Pablo and Dora (Padilla) Martinez.  He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Eileen Martinez; his daughters Rosalyn Garcia and husband Angel; Geraldine Jones and husband Jason; Pauline Martinez and companion Yessica Hinojosa; Son, Freddie Martinez and companion Gabriela Torres; all of Socorro, NM; 10 grandchildren, Jaenee; Jason Jr.; Freddie Jr.; Justeen; Jayleen; Justyn; Justus; Jayda; Angel Jr; and Kailee; Sisters Sheryl Romero and husband Michael; Debra Carrillo and husband Leroy; Barbara Griegro and husband David; Stepmother Julia Martinez; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends including Evie Schultz.  Justy was a life long resident of Socorro and was a former employee of the City of Socorro, retiring in 1990 after 15 years of service.  He was a former little league baseball coach and also played with the Masons baseball team of Socorro and he was fondly known as Reggie. Justy enjoyed collecting memorabilia listening to oldies and sitting outside on his porch.  He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Dallas Cowboys fan.  Justy is preceded in death by his parents, his nephew, Stanley Carrillo, and a very special friend John Paz.  The Rosary will be recited Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 7:00 PM at San Miguel Catholic Church Parish Hall in Socorro, NM.  A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Thursday September 2, 2010 at San Miguel Catholic Church Parish Hall with Father Andy Pavlak as Celebrant at 10:00 a.m.  Burial will take place in the San Miguel Catholic Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Angel Garcia, Jason Jones, Adam Paz, Tim Gutierrez, Nick Romero, and Michael Romero Jr.  Honorary Pallbearers are Michael Romero Sr., Lawrence Baca, Daniel Chavez, Ignacio Chavez Jr., Justyn Martinez, Angel Garcia Jr., Freddie Martinez Jr., and Jason Jones Jr. Daddy, we will miss you dearly!
