Wednesday, May 7, 2008 browns celebrate 66th wedding anniversaryPhotos submitted to El Defensor Chieftain Earl Brown and Elsie Murphy Brown, originally from San Antonio, N.M., during the 1930s, announce the celebration of 66 years of marriage. They were married March 28, 1942. Currently they live in El Reno, Okla. Elsie and her sister, Eve Murphy Feight, attended San Antonio School as children. Earl J. Brown, originally from Socorro County, served in both Germany and Japan during World War II. He was part of the invasion of Normandy on D-Day and served afterwards. He made 24 trips across the English Channel to take troops into Normandy. Brown also worked for the Civil Conservation Corps at Bosque del Apache, building projects during the 1930s. Earl and Elsie have three children and 11 grandchildren; they also have great-grandchildren.
