Wednesday, December 31, 2008 A Christmas 'bundle of joy'The best Christmas presents often come in small packages. That was the case for a Magdalena couple whose Christmas was made even more special when a little bundle of joy entered their lives at 4:10 p.m. on Christmas Day (Dec. 25). After 2-1/2 days of hard labor, Myriah Vigil, 20, gave birth to a raven-haired baby girl named Hailee. She weighed in at 9 pounds and measured 19 inches long. Myra's expected due date was Dec. 30, however, doctors decided to induce labor on Tuesday, Dec. 23, due to complications with the pregnancy. "I wanted to have her before Christmas, but that's when she came," said Vigil. Vigil is a stay-at-home mom. Her fiancé, Gilbert Torres, Jr., 21, is a self-employed welder. "This (parenthood) gives me something to look forward to," said Torres. Both parents are excited about raising their first child. "It's awesome! We love it!," exclaimed Vigil. Hailee is the ninth grandchild for Fannie and Gilbert Torres Sr., of Socorro; and the fourth grandchild of Deanne and Larry Vigil, also of Socorro.
