Traffic heading north on I-25 was halted for several hours on June 17 due to a Navajo Express Trucking Company semi-trailer catching fire just south of the Sevilleta Wildlife Refuge near mile marker 170. Abeytas Fire and Safety were first on the scene with Socorro County Police arriving shortly afterwards to aide with traffic concerns on the highway. The vehicle was transporting empty glass bottles to local New Mexico breweries when the back end driver’s side tire blew, causing the driver to pull over before realizing that a fire had begun in the trailer. No official cause has been determined by law enforcement. Including the driver, no serious injuries occurred in the accident.
