SunZia files with PRC

Wind farms in the eastern part of the state will be a source of the electricity.

The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission denied the Sunzia Southwest Transmission Project's location request today at a hearing in Santa Fe.

"The commissioners approved the right of way, but not the location request so they will have to reapply," said Kristin Haase, executive assistant to PRC Chairman Sandy Jones.

That was the recommendation of Hearing Examiner Ashley C. Schannauer earlier this summer.

More details will be in the Sept. 13 edition of El Defensor Chieftain.
