On Dec. 16, the Socorro Cooperative Nursery School held its Christmas Program with several parents, grandparents, and other family members in attendance. The last time I visited the Socorro Cooperative Nursery School was eighteen years ago when my daughter Ashley Pyke was one of Don’s students. As I walked in those same doors to watch my grandson Ryan Hall (Parents Tara and Stephen Hall) sing in the concert, I still had a feeling of safety, security, and comfort knowing that Don is at the realm.
Don Plank has been Director of the school for twenty-eight years, and Tisha Webb has assisted for ten of those years. Don has had many of Socorro’s youth pass through his school, and he has prepared them for lifelong learning. SCNS has computers for the students to use, Don reads to them, the students have playtime, and their day also includes healthy snacks.
The students are enriched with care and compassion received from Don and Tisha while at school. The non-profit school operates only on tuition, and is fortunate to have the Presbyterian Church lease the facilities to the school. SCNS doesn’t receive federal or state funding, and in addition to tuition, relies on donations and fundraising.
Please visit their website at www. socorrocooperativenurseryschool.org for more information or to provide financial support. Socorro is fortunate that Don and Tisha at SCNS continue to provide a solid learning foundation students in the community. Thank you and great job!
