Saturday, December 8, 2007 Area rider honored on Wrangler All-Star teamRecently, leaders of the National High School Rodeo Association appointed Datil roper Rodee Walraven to the Wrangler High School All-Star Rodeo team. Walraven was chosen for his spot on the corporate-sponsored team based on his leadership abilities, academics and athletic achievements. The sponsorship is intended to boost Wrangler's brand image in the high school rodeo scene. Team members receive two pairs of competition jeans and shirts embroidered with the team logo. Walraven is a senior at Quemado High School, where he plays on the Quemado basketball team. He competes around the state in New Mexico High School Rodeo Association events, where he is currently on the top-ranked calf-roping team with partner Logan Medlin. Walraven had a top performance this summer when he won the team-roping championships at the International Finals Youth Rodeo, in Shawnee, Okla., with partner Beau Marshall, of Truth or Consequences.
