Claunch rider on top of his game

Quirt McDaniel extended his reign as the top bareback bronc rider in the New Mexico High School Rodeo Association with two top rides in the Alamogordo rodeo May 2-4.
McDaniel held on to tie for first with a 70 point ride the first day and finished as the average winner after a first place 72-point ride on Day 2.
Magdalena roper Ryan Sanders finished fourth in the first round of calf roping with a time of 10.7 seconds. Sanders is currently ranked eighth overall in NMHSRA calf ropers.
Datil rider Rodee Walraven and partner Logan Medlin, of Capitan, had the best time in the first round of team roping with a time of 6.06 seconds. Walraven and Medlin are the top ranked team ropers in the NMHSRA.
