Steers season ends

The Steers landed in the sixth seed for the 2019 8-Man State Championships which had them on the road against the Melrose Buffaloes on November 1. The three seeded Buffaloes took care of business to end Magdalena’s season to the tune of 60-8. A younger team with only three seniors graduating, William Bennet, Will Montoya and Josiah Piasso departing the group looks to grow on its 6-5 record. Magdalena Athletic Director Jory Mirabal will have to decide during the offseason whether to continue moving forward with interim head coach Kelby Stephens at the helm or to bring in someone else. As for the 8-Man State Championships, Melrose moves on to play two seeded Menaul. The one loss Tatum Coyotes are heavily favored in the one seed. The championship will take place November 16.
